With Mother’s Day just around the corner, we know that so many of our lovely readers won’t be able to enjoy the celebrations with their mum’s or mother figures. With the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic, we’re being advised to social distance or self-isolate to protect ourselves and those around us. Although this can feel extremely difficult and of course, lonely, we know that it’s necessary.
So, my team and I thought it would be a lovely idea to put a post together with a few suggestions on how you can celebrate the day from a safe distance.
Make use of FaceTime or video calls to give Mother’s Day wishes
It can feel really heartbreaking to not be able to give your mum a big hug or pop round to see her for a cup of tea, so why not make use of video calls or FaceTime like I have been with my mum? It’s such a great way to keep in touch and see one another without actually needing to be in the same room. Why not get your favourite cake or biscuits and grab a cup of tea and enjoy your own afternoon tea party over the phone to make it that extra bit special? We know it’s nowhere near the real thing, but it’ll help to lift both your spirits and give you something to look forward to.
Write a letter
What’s more heartwarming than a lovely, handwritten letter? There’s something really special about receiving a handwritten note these days when we’re so used to texts or emails. List down all the reasons that make your mum one-in-a-million and make sure she has it ready to open on the day.
Plan something special for the future
Although we can’t visit our favourite spas or restaurants right now, we can still make plans for months in advance by buying gift vouchers. You’ll have something to look forward to, and, you’ll be helping your favourite businesses to stay afloat during these worrying times.
Host a Mother’s Day movie day from the comfort of your own homes
Did you know that Google Chrome has an extension called Netflix Party? It allows you to simultaneously stream Netflix with your family or friends! It even has a chat window so you can chat to each other throughout, and there’s an option to pause the movie for everybody at the same time to allow for those essential snack runs!
I hope you enjoyed our little tips! Have a fantastic Mother’s Day everybody!
